Due to itsversatility, plasma technology offers the possibility ofcutting a wide variety of conductive materials up to athickness of 57 mm.Main uses and applications:• Cuts a variety of conductive materials including mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and other ferrous materials.• Straight / bevelled cut• Automated cutting• Highly accurate gouging• Drilling• Sheet metal markingThe equipment is simple and the user can be up andrunning quickly. However, this process is rather slowand only suitable for cutting carbon steel. Oxy-gas isnot effective on other types of metal such as stainlesssteel or aluminium. What’s more, the workpiece mustbe preheated before cutting, which further reducesproductivity. Safety concerns arise from the use ofacetylene, which is highly flammable and unstable (thiscombustible gas is most commonly used with flamecutting)Main uses and applications:• Cutting steel for manufacturing or dismantling it.• Heating parts for bending, straightening, heat treatment.• Loosening jammed or rusted parts and boltsPlasma cutting is one of the mostwidely used processes in metallurgyand manufacturing. Its cutting speedand precision often give it the edgeover flame cutting.Cutting qualityPlasma cuts produce less slag (burrs).Easy to useNo gas to adjust, no flame to control.ProductivityCuts more parts, faster and with fewersecondary operations.SafetyNo flammable gas required, uses onlycompressed air.The term «CNC» refers to «Computer Numerical Control».The torch’s movement is controlled by a computer on the cutting tableusing a computer program. Three advantages of automated cutting: Consistent and reliable performance Increased productivity Optimised cutting quality3More information? There’s more informationin the brochurePLASMA TECHNOLOGYMECHANISED CNC CUTTINGFOUR CUTTINGADVANTAGESOXYCUTTING technologywww.gys.fr
